Summer

Summer is . . . a perpetual to-do list, tennis lessons, baseball practice, continual "I'm bored"s, pajamas until noon, daily flies buzzing around indoors, endless wailing and gnashing of teeth--it's simply glorious.

Somehow, I remember summers differently when I was a kid.

Now, more often than not, I feel like an upside-down-turtle unable to right myself and keep going  . . . kind of like my little apprentice.

Duckie Lives On . . . In My Mind At Least

I needed a pick-me-up tonight.  Who better than Duckie?

Maybe I just need a John Hughes marathon.  Anybody else in?

Theorized Productivity

I am determined to get something--anything--work-related done today.

I met with the guy who's redoing my website last week, so now, even as I type, I'm logged into WordPress, trying to make my own changes to see if I'm smart enough to do it.  I have some clear ideas of things that need to be done--that's definitely not the problem.  It's the follow-through.

Which brings me to my current thought-provoking question of the day:  Why don't we get allowances like kids do?

I bet I could figure out a way to get a whole lot done if there were a tangible reward at the end.

So if you, or someone you know, has a burning desire to financially (or otherwise) reward another person's progress, let me know.  I'd like to be on the top of that list.

Revised Steps for Craft Show Preparation

This weekend is the Downtown Olathe Arts Festival--two whole days of fun-filled crafting adventure!  Of course, I came back from vacation completely unprepared.  So the steps for this show's preparation seem to be more along these lines:
  1. Panic.
  2. Make huge mess in living room and workshop.
  3. Question sanity.
  4. Nap.
Hopefully, somehow the magical powers of responsibility and organization will become mine (I think they are generally granted during sleep), and I will become an unparalleled artistic genius . . . or just get some stuff made and packed in time.

MIA, Now Back in Action . . . at least in theory.

DisneyWorld will never be the same.

Benches all over those theme parks are indelibly marked with my sweaty imprints, and I'm pretty sure we stopped at every bathroom.

Oh, and we also rode some rides along the way.

Now back to reality.  I've got a two-day show this weekend, and I need to make a few more things for it.  If only they'd make themselves . . . although that might be kind of creepy--like the It's A Small World ride.  Creeeeepy.
