It's Official

I'm ending this blog.
(da, da, dun)

Never fear, I'm really just moving.

These days, if I post at all, it's always at my other blog (www.a-robot-a-day.blogspot.com), so I'm just making the transition over there and will no longer post here.

Feel free to follow me over there.  Although there's already a whole 8 people officially following that blog, I bet we can find a way to squeeze in a couple more.

Robot on, people. Robot on.

Hey, I finally wrote a blog post!  Of course, not here.  Check it out over at my A-Robot-A-Day blog.

Peace out.

Pintrest Anyone?

I'm exhausted.  Uncreative.  And the current humidity is making everything around me feel damp.

So I've been looking for fun robot ideas/inspiration on Pintrest today.

You can follow my Robot Obsession if you want.

Sail the Skies!

This airship is made solely from recycled materials, including: aluminum malt shaker body, vintage dust-mask engine and landing gear, typewriter hammer propeller, hinge wings accented with clock parts, and cool, ornate thing on top.

While the rubber band tethers on the side help keep the lid in place, they can be released for super secret storage in the airship itself. Yes, that's right, it has storage, too!!

Celebrate Earth Day!!!

Did you know that, each year, 17 million robots go without arms and legs and that some never get a chance to see through transplanted eyes?  In fact, every day, 4 out of 5 robot parts are cast into landfills to simply rust away.

However, there is hope.  Together, we can break the never-ending cycle of waste and dismemberment.

At Robot Rescue International, our mission is to rescue, reassemble, and release robots into the world again.  We believe that, while all robots are not created equal, they ARE endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Personality, and the Pursuit of Appendages.

Please join us in this crusade to end robot cruelty.  Save a life.  Buy a robot.

ABOUT THE ROBOT RESCUE COALITION
From recycled and found objects, those things you may remember from kitchens and garages of years past, comes the artwork of Rebecca Jackson.  Her delight lies within taking things apart and reassembling the pieces in unexpected ways.  From this aesthetic process emerges quirky robots and steampunk art.

When she goes on rescue missions, she doesn’t see flashlights, canisters, or teapots.  She sees bodies, heads, and missing legs.  Her workshop surfaces are littered with these body parts, and after trial-and-error limb and head transfusions, a robot takes shape.  As she drills and bolts them together, their personalities develop, and the components tell a story that gives each one its own sense of individuality and background.

Each finished piece of art reminds her that being a little different is not necessarily a bad thing (and that her obsession with metal objects is, at least, partially justified).

Yellow

I would like a bag full of yellow jelly beans.  Just yellow.  And not those hooty-falooty special ones, like Jelly Belly or Starburst.  The cheap, big ones that have crystal-like sugar inside.  Yellow.

A Disagreement

My drill press and I had a disagreement today.  It ate part of my finger.

At least we had a robot band-aid on hand!

Kryptonite

Apparently, the Pit of Doom is made of kryptonite, even SuperCam is trapped helplessly inside.

A Robot Kindred Spirit

I've met a kindred spirit.  She's a robot maker named Cheri Kudja, and I have to admit I live in constant jealousy of her vintage tin collection.  Perhaps some day we will meet in person--until then, she's been beyond kind and has taken a few of my robots on the road with her to some Florida shows.

Here's a few pictures she sent of the gang:

Oh, and she also adopted Sparky.

Why?

Why is it the cherry in the bottom of the ice is the
exception,
rather than the rule, in a Cherry Dr. Pepper from Sonic?

The Sketchbook Project

Today, I mailed off my sketchbook to The Sketchbook Project.  While it might not be perfect, at least it's done, and I got to use my drill press (front cover).

I've Come So Far

Duckie Mo-Mo's eye popped out in an unfortunate incident.  A couple of years ago, I would've used some Elmer's glue and hoped for the best.

Now I knew to bring out the Weldbond and vise grip.

That eye's never coming out again.
