I went to Stillwater, OK this weekend and was hoping to do a little antique-ing sometime before or after the KU basketball game, but we ran out of time (and maybe out of spirit after the loss). On the way home, I did stop by one store and found a couple of new robot heads, a few arms, and some cool rusted pans for steampunk art, though.
So the trip wasn't a total loss. I suppose it doesn't take much to make me happy.

New Steampunk Settings
For my upcoming installment into a new store in Westport, I just got a shipment in with some new focal pieces for my steampunk jewelry. I'm going to try both a dragonfly and a sparrow with little circles (inlaid with gears) hanging from the center.
I also received some new "gothic" settings that I'm going to try. More pictures to follow . . .

Work Space
Here's a current shot of my workspace.
Do I have to wonder why I feel like I'm not actually getting much done? I've got about ten steampunk necklaces and three robots in various stages of completion and nowhere to start new work.

An Excercise in Futility
So I just spent close to an hour (between little boy interruptions) on the internet looking for heads for my robots . . . to no avail.
What's a girl to do when there's no good heads around?

Trying to Work
Since my steampunk stock has been decimated and several of my robots have gone to live in new stores, I decide to industriously work this morning.
(That went well for about thirty seconds.)
With three boys home for President's Day, I've discovered any true progress is going to be dramatically limited. Currently, I've got one setting up an obstacle course throughout the den and two others simultaneously banging on the piano and yelling at each other.
Let me just say, intervening in fights and stepping over obstacles is not conducive to creativity. Help!

Happy Valentine's Day
Happy Valentine's Day to the one I love most in my robot-making life . . . my drill press.
Drill press, you make my life so much easier. I never knew true love until I met you and stopped using that heavy, bulky hand-held drill.

Christel Highland's Store
So I met with Christel Highland yesterday. She's this great fashionista who is opening a new store in Westwood, KS (near the Country Club Plaza), and she picked up about half of my stock of steampunk jewelry, along with a few pieces of steampunk art and three robots.
I'm excited about the opportunity to be in another store, and I'm hoping for more doors to open from it. Mark March 13 on your calendar for the opening.

Steampunk Art?
I'm thinking about branching out into some wall art that encompasses robots and/or steampunk. Thoughts?

Where the Magic Happens
Here's my workshop area. I am currently confined to the corner of the basement, using the closet shelves as part of my storage. My little three-year-old has his own work bench to keep him busy while I work . . . at least that was the intention. Mostly he uses it to climb up on so that he can get to my stuff.
Here's a shot of my cabinet of goodies. (I pretend to be organized.)

The Beginning?
So I've decided to start a blog about my robots. (While that sentence in and of itself sounds odd, I'm beginning to embrace the fact that I actually am a bit odd.)
I make robots from recycled and found objects. I name them, give them a story, and then help them find new homes. It's a labor of love. What can I say?
Join me on the journey as I post pictures of them, finished and unfinished, and share what makes my world go 'round.
